Threaded Together - NOMINATED FOR BEST DIVERSITY CHAMPION AWARD - ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY 2024.

Threaded Together is a poem film that captures the lived experiences of South Asian women and their textile heritage in Lancashire.

From learning new skills in the homeland to earning pennies a piece sewing in Blackburn living rooms, thread and fabric supported South Asian families across generations. Bollywood reigned supreme and the latest fashion from Lahore was celebrated, blending cultures from the old to the new. A short film depicts the oral histories and nuances from Blackburn women from the 1960’s to the present day.

Co-directed by Sima Gonsai and Bhulla Beghal, Threaded Together presents a tapestry of diverse voices exploring home, identity and community.
